• Hi. We are the Helmeted Honeyeater (HeHo) helpers and we are from Buxton Primary School. We have joined the ‘Love your Locals’ challenge run by Healesville Sanctuary to try to make a difference to Australian native animals. We chose to help the Helmeted Honeyeaters and help save them from extinction.

Our school has created action plans to raise awareness and money to save the HeHos. Our action plans include…

  • Posters (Buxton Igloo Roadhouse, Marysville Kinder, Buxton Post Office)
  • Money tins (Fraga's Café Marysville, Buxton Trout Farm,  Buxton Igloo, Buxton Shell )
  • A song composed by a student, then produced and performed by the whole school
  • Bookmarks
  • Emails to friends of the Helmeted Honeyeaters to organise a school  field trip to the Yellingbo State Conservation Reserve
  • Buxton Primary School made a HeHo Picture Story Book during Better Buddies (This book won Yea MARC Van First Prize)
